Full-day program

The Wilhelm-Ostwald-School in Leipzig is a full-day school. That means that there are many different offers coming from various areas available for the students after the lessons have ended. These offers are financially, factually and personally promoted.

The lessons end already at 1:05 pm every second week for the whole classes 5 to 10. The full-day program then starts at 1:45 pm. It is mandatory to choose at least one offer, but there are always students who engage in up to five projects.

There are language lessons...

Due to the enormous workload that students of the classes 11 and 12 experience for their A-level exams preparation, they don’t have to attend the full-day program. It is also not possible to end the lessons every second week at 1:05 pm because of the full timetables. There are nevertheless many options to still attend the offers, and many pupils are using them. TSA-meetings are also part of the full-day program at our school, but the project work is, of course, done mainly extracurricular. The meetings do start at 3:30 pm to give all members the chance to come.

The variety of activities offered is impressive: There are sports programs like basketball, soccer, badminton, volleyball and table tennis, but also languages like Japanese, Arabic and Spanish. On top of that, the possibility of doing things which are not related with school that much is given with offers like graffiti and Hip-Hop. There is also a school chorus, the school magazine and several offers to deepen the knowledge of interested in all mathematic and scientific subjects.

... musical offers, and many more.

Students attending the full-day program are using their leisure time in a very meaningful way. They learn many new things, but they also have a lot of fun with it. Attendance is compulsory after signing up, so continuity is also given.
